Gym Notes 8-24-2011

This is just a quick update to keep everyone in the loop.

Tryouts have been good. I am pleased with where we are at. We might water down routines for the first meet to build some confidence, so be patient, we are building towards our goal of going to state.

Warm ups leotards. I can order the leotards through Stacey at Chalkbox through her dealer account for about $35, if I order it though the Ponderosa account, it will be about $48. I would prefer the cheaper price. If there are no objections, I would like to go through Stacey and have everyone write a check to Chalkbox when the time comes. If there are any objections, please let me know. I will send out info letting everyone know exactly how much once I talk to Stacey.

Homecoming is coming.

The meet against TJ is now on Wednesday, September 7. The meet will feature JV gymnasts competing as varsity. Varsity gymnasts are expected to come and support their teammates. Varsity girls should plan on arriving by 6:00 at the latest and staying until 8:00 or when the meet ends. If the varsity gymnasts would like to come earlier and get some time in on the events, they are welcome to.

After discussion with the team, we will have practice on Thursday before the parade. It will be quick one, 4 -5.

Thursday, September 8. Homecoming parade from 5:30 - 8:00. I sent home a permission form that needs to be turned in to me by next Thursday. (September 1 our first meet. Please do not ask me at the meet for a form.) The girls will be walking / driving my convertible. The middle school program will be marching with us.

Friday, September 9. Homecoming assembly. I would really like all of the girls to come over and participate in the homecoming show, but school does come first. The assembly is at the end of the day. The girls should be at Ponderosa no later than 1:00, but can arrive earlier if they want extra time to warm up.

Saturday September 10, is a meet for the varsity girls at Palmer Ridge. I will send info when I get it about the meet.

Driver permission forms. So far only one parent has turned in a form to drive other students. Send them in with your gymnast.

Concessions. We got the football game September 9, we are on the visitor side. The more the merrier. No children under 14 allowed per state law. All stadium clean ups are taken.

Camp for youngsters. I am attaching a flier for the camp. The first camp is on Saturday, September 17. I need all of the girls to come and help. The second camp is on October 8. For both camps the girls need to arrive around 9:30 and plan on staying until 12:30.

Pizza. Tricia will be sending info out about pizza.

Concussion forms. These were sent home a few weeks ago. Please send them in if you are okay with the girls participating in the study.

I know this is a lot. Please let me know if you have any ideas or questions. The first meet is in a week and everyone will compete as long as they have enough practices.

Thanks for supporting your gymnasts!!
